(Alexandria, VA) February 13, 2008 – Sam Herring, co-founder and executive vice president of Intrepid Learning Solutions, has been appointed to serve on the board of directors for the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) for a two-year term, 2008-2009. The board sets the Society’s strategic direction and provides leadership to the profession and ASTD’s members worldwide.
Mr. Herring leads the company’s sales, marketing, solution architecture, and account management operations. Herring and his team have developed key Intrepid client relationships including Autodesk, Honeywell, Macy’s, Salesforce.com, S.C. Johnson, United Airlines, and Wells Fargo Bank.
Mr. Herring is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences and seminars, including those hosted by ASTD, The Conference Board, The Masie Center, and VNU. He is immediate past-chair of the ASTD Board of Directors Selection Committee and is a past member of the advisory committees for the ASTD TechKnowledge® Conference and the TechLearn conference. In addition, Mr. Herring has been recognized as a “Who’s Who” training industry thought leader by TrainingOutsourcing.com.
He is also a director of New Futures, a Seattle area children and family services agency. Mr. Herring holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University, where he studied ethics, religion, and workforce development, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University. About ASTD
